"Pure" Japanese calligraphy



"" (sei, or shō). It is translated as clear, pure, clean, peaceful.
This character is written by Kanzi,
Regular script.

Etymology : Phono-semantic compound
semantic  
(water)  +  phonetic   (blue)

A meaning and pronunciation match this letter very much.
It is used for a person's name well.

  4. oh, i have always loved this kanji - and the way your strokes become full of light, almost transparent, it's amazing, so wonderful...
