The summer night delight

This traditional festival (hamasaki-gionn-sai Festival) has been held in summer of every year for about 250 years.
It is 15m in height, 6t in weight.

The musical accompaniment consists of the flute, the samisen, the fire bell, the sum drum.

In this town along the seashore, the fisherman and the farmer are main residents.
They enjoy a short-lived festival...

Yes, it is so. Pleasure is necessary for the life.

These float are completely dismantled until dawn.
In the tomorrow morning, nobody can watch this figure.

"Transiency"... It is Japanese view of life and death itself.

  8. What a spectacularly bright and colorful occasion. I wish I could be plummeted right into the middle of all those festivities and, like Cinderella, at midnight, filled with sake and good things to eat, be wisked back into my own bed.
