"Star" Japanese calligraphy



"" (sei, hoshi). It is translated as star, planet.
This character is written by Kanzi,
Cursive script.

Etymology : Phono-semantic compound
星 ⇒ 晶 (crystal, bright) + 生 (lifetime, birth)

The crystal are born in the space. . .
The ancient people are poets.


The star which does not reach the hand.  
The star which there is immediately.
The all is great crystal.

  2. In ancient Japanese this Kanji was used a word I like very much: 星港 (=The harbour of star). It was the name of Singapore, now written シンガポール

    I never understood why they call themselves as living in "The town of Lion", whereas the lions never went there...
