In morning of terraced rice fields, soft chills drift.
And, Season pass at a gallop here.
The crop was given to people.
The deep love was granted to them.
Every year in the long history.
It was a holy ceremony for our country.
Our Courtesy, Modest, Consideration, Wisdom, Dignity
All of them were born from here.
mountain goes down field is dusk Japanese pampas grass
Yosa Buson (1716 – 1784)
"暮" (bo, or kureru). It is translated as evening, dusk, sunset, ending, etc.
This character is written by Kanzi, Semi-cursive script.
Etymology : Phono-semantic compound
phonetic : 莫 (is not) + semantic : 日 (the sun)
This form reminds me of the state that something ends in.
The opening, and the end.
Samsara. It never stops.

I couldn't decide whether I wanted to smile or feel sad as I looked at the photos, the calligraphy and the poetry. Autumn - when things start ending - always makes me feel like that. Thank you for yet another stunning post.

ReplyDeleteThere is a cycle spirally going forth in a day, a week, a year, and in our life. I’m always moved by the richness and ripeness before the onslaught of winter. Life continues repeating one end and another beginning. Thanks for this post, ruma, you expressed on behalf of us what many Japanese have in mind about rice farming.
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful pictures and colours!
ReplyDeleteHave a good time,
hugs Crissi

The Japanese landscapes are truly original and unique. Some views are realizable only in the Greatest Empire of the Rising Sun
ReplyDeleteAll the best!
Bellissimo video, complimenti!! buona giornata...ciao
ReplyDeleteI think almost everything in Japan is based on rice because rice is our soul food. Without rice, we would have been different. In the third photo, the paddy fields after harvest are shining in sunset. How divine they are! Ruma, I have never seen any photos which depict about rice more eloquently than these photos. Japan herself! Thanks a lot for showing these photos.
