"Bridge" Japanese calligraphy



"" (kyō, hashi). It is translated as bridge.
This character is written by Kanzi,
Regular script.


Etymology : Phono-semantic compound
木 (tree, wood) + 喬 (The thing which made an arc and built over the high place)
  


The bridges often have beautiful shape.
Therefore it creates the human drama.

  2. A hideogram with a great harmony indeed! As regards European history, the first bridges were made by the ancient Romans (the Greeks didn't know them). The first bridge was built to cross the river Tiber and to continue the road on the opposite side. Before building a bridge it was necessary to ask the permission from the gods. So, it had been a religious question.
