"River" Japanese calligraphy
"川" (sen, or kawa). It is translated as river, stream, flow.
This character is written by Kanzi, Semi-cursive script.
Etymology : hieroglyph
This letter was created by the state that water flowed through between both sides.
As for these words, the form of the letter accords with human imagination.
To me this one is very obvious. I see the riverside on the left & right stroke. ^_^;
ReplyDeleteAnd the middle stroke is the flowing water!
<3 Easy!
Again, this is perfect as it gives me something to remember and connect this with. Thanks Ruma-

I love the simplicity and directness of this one.
ReplyDeletebeautiful marks to create "river" -- the simplicity and beauty of black ink on white paper - very cleansing to a muddled mind! Thanks you, Ruma, for these calligraphy entries. It has been too long since I visited you!
ReplyDeleteThese two posts are lovely. I enjoy the way you link nature with the calligraphy. You have a beautiful language, and a beautiful land.

As said before from the first commenter (PinkPanthress), this ideogram really gives the idea of the river.
ReplyDeleteRumasan, when possible please show also the idogram DOO/TOO ("Moving dragons"), made by the radical 212 plus 23 strokes!!!
Goodbye!
I understand the meaning. This kind of picture-language (Kalligrafie) is a great art! Greetings form Luzia.
ReplyDeletePlus les kanjis paraissent simples
ReplyDeleteplus je les suppose nécessiter d'art dans l'exécution

This is a simple, yet beautiful character. It symbolizes three rivers. I like it.
