The Trace of Old Dream Ⅰ
This is the Karatsu-jo Castle, Karatsu, Saga Prefecture.
It was made by Hirotaka Terasawa (1563 - 1633) in 1602.
He is the first feudal lord of Karatsu feudal clan (1593 - 1817).
Corners of stone wall draw an arc neatly.
The Japanese castle comes to look like it all.
The building beauty of the castle was a pride of feudal lord (daimyos).
It is constructed a castle on the hill which faced the sea.
Feudal clan was independent existence in the same way as a country.
It is interesting that current dialect is different every former feudal clan.
Only a castle hands down the remains of the old prosperity and fights.

Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
You have captured the history and beauty of this place. I like the top picture for the way the castle seems like it's proudly looking down on the world after standing the tests of time. It's blends well with the trees but still looks very important.
ReplyDeleteI recognize this 唐津城 (Karatsujoo), because in the Eighties it was shown in some phonecards of NTT and in some "Highway Cards - 10,600 Yen"!!!

ReplyDeleteI appreciate the history lesson and being able to travel from within my room. Being originally from Europe, where history and architecture live side by side as in your country. It is what I miss, living in the US, where architecture seems to change with the seasons.
Enjoy the weekend,
